In cooperation with the Embassy of Canada, the transmediale Marshall McLuhan Lecture 2013 will be held by Ian Hacking. In his lecture Pluto, Plutocrats & Plutonium, the world renowned Canadian philosopher Ian Hacking will root out the importance of classification and naming to our ways of inhabiting and acting in the world. transmediale Marshall McLuhan Salon 2013: [[[I’ll Show You HD]]]. Exhibition by Jennifer Chan
Apart from the Marshall McLuhan lecture, transmediale is also realizing an exhibition in cooperation with the Embassy of Canada: this year’s focus is on Jennifer Chan. It consists of a series of “visual mixtapes” that all follow a vernacular remix aesthetic in which net culture is captured as a form of “found footage”.

The transmediale archive is digitizing media art history. If you have ever been a participant in transmediale or VideoFest, we would like to include your works as a part of the DCA project (Digitizing Contemporary Art) of the “Europeana” European Union program for preserving cultural heritage. Please come visit the transmediale archive in the green room, and ask us more about the project.

Vilém Flusser Resident 2013: Pinar Yoldas at transmediale 2013
Our resident for the Vilém Flusser Residency for Artistic Research 2013, Pinar Yoldas, will be joining us at the festival to talk about her project An Ecosystem of Excess. She will present her ideas about the problem of “man-made extreme environments” like landfills, junkyards etc. caused by an excessive consumerism.

Ongoing external exhibitions starting at reSource 003: P2P Vorspiel
At our pre-festival weekend events, two ongoing exhibitions at .CHB and the Felleshus at the Nordic Embassies will be launched: Torrential Forms (25 Jan-3 Feb) and The Embassy Reconstructed (27 Jan-3 Feb). Torrential Forms exposes the invisible flows of file-shared content that pass through the cables and air around us, and the patterns therein. The Embassy Reconstructed is a sonic investigation of a phenomenon: the Embassy as a space to project dreams, visions, values and the reality of our life-world interpreted by six artists, with the support of a chamber music ensemble. If you do not want to miss all other events of reSource 003: P2P Vorspiel, here is the overall schedule.

Neben der Marshall McLuhan-Lecture,organisiert die transmediale in Kooperation mit der Botschaft von Kanada eine Ausstellung im Marshall McLuhan Salon. Dieses Jahr wurde die Künstlerin Jennifer Chan ausgewählt. Die Ausstellung zeigt eine Serie von „visuellen Mixtapes“ in einer viel gebrauchten Remix-Ästhetik, die Netzkultur als Form von „Found Footage“ spiegelt.

Das transmediale Archiv digitalisiert die Geschichte der Medienkunst. Falls ihr jemals an der transmediale oder dem VideoFest teilgenommen habt, würden wir euch und eure Werke gern in unseren Beitrag zum DCA-Projekt (Digitizing Contemporary Art) des “Europeana” Programms der Europäischen Union aufnehmen, in dem Kulturelle Güter bewahrt werden. Vilém Flusser Resident 2013: Pinar Yoldas auf der transmediale 2013
Unser Resident der Vilém Flusser Residency for Artistic Research 2013, Pinar Yoldas, wird auch auf dem Festival mit von der Partie sein und über ihr Projekt An Ecosystem of Excess sprechen. Es geht dabei um ihre Ideen zum Problem der von Menschen geschaffenen Extremumgebungen, wie Müllhalden und Schrottplätze, die durch exzessiven Konsum geschaffen werden.

Externe Ausstellungen: Eröffnungen während des reSource 003: P2P Vorspiel
Während der Veranstaltungen am Wochenende vor dem Festival, werden unter anderem zwei Ausstellungen im .CHB und im Felleshus der Nordischen Botschaften eröffnet: Torrential Forms (25.1. - 3.2.) und The Embassy Reconstructed (27.1.-3.2.). Torrential Forms enthüllt unsichtbare Flows und Muster von geteilten Inhalten, die ständig durch die Kabel und Luft um uns herum transportiert werden. The Embassy Reconstructed ist die akustische Untersuchung eines Phänomens: Die Botschaft als ein Ort, der Träume, Visionen, Werte und die Realität unserer Lebenswelt projiziert. Dieser Ort wird von sechs Künstlern mit der Unterstützung von einem Kammermusik-Ensemble interpretiert. Und wenn ihr die anderen Veranstaltungen von reSource 003: P2P Vorspiel auch nicht verpassen wollt, gibt es hier den gesamten Überblick.
